We have been working hard on our environmental credentials, and have made some excellent progress. Our own manufacturing power sources are really quite deep green now; increased numbers of solar panels on the roof which provide electricity, oxygen generated ourselves from the air, and hydrogen gas that we generate from RO water through electrolysis ( with cleaner by products of water vapour only).
We fully embrace the notion that we need to shoulder our portion of responsibility and do what we can to move towards green tech. And we have happily done that.
There is certainly more that can be done, but some of it is beyond our control; we have offered products from wholly sustainable resources, only to have them refused by the marketplace as too expensive to the point that we delisted the product lines; often it is simply not feasible to supply a green credential product for the same price as a not so green product. So, until the general market changes its mind, this adjustment is somewhat out of our hands! But we understand that it is not such an easy transition to make, as green, sustainable solutions are often two to three times the price of the dominant incumbent product found in our marketplace.
Other positive changes have been successfully implemented, however, and we do speak with our supply partners to see if there is more that can be done.
We have also instigated a borosilicate recycling initiative that hopefully will gain momentum as more people become involved. We have lobbied government with regard to recycling vials primarily from the Covid vaccine program but naturally other vials are included.
To our knowledge there is no borosilicate re-cycling plant in the UK; we have raised this, along with other strategic issues at suitable levels and await hopefully encouraging news.
Our research efforts continue.
We have also embarked upon an ad hoc series of informational notes concerning green issues relevant to us and you; do please ask if you would like back copies of articles.
